Happy Birthday

We thought it would be easy. We just asked the boys to sing Happy Birthday to Brooke so we could video them and post the message to her facebook wall. Sending cards is so 2010...

Four takes later, we gave up. This is what we got:

In other news, Joshua started gymnastics class last week and, not surprisingly, is a monkey on all the equipment. They have a big rope with knots on it so you have somewhere to put your feet as you climb. Joshua shot up the rope and didn't even bother to put his feet on the knots!

Both boys are taking part in the after-school running program twice a week. Actually, they have no choice - the coach is their mother. ;) 102 kids signed up and it's crazy. Thankfully I have two assistant coaches plus parent volunteers to keep some sort of order.

Stuart has a triathlon tomorrow so he has gone to bed early as I think the alarm is going off around 4am. I am not racing this weekend but rode 50 miles and ran 3 today so I am beat. Such is the life of athletes! ;)

Support Team

I just love this picture of Stuart and the boys at Dog Days Triathlon, in which he won his age group. Daniel had me make him the "GO DAD" shirt just before we left. Sometimes we have to bribe them to come out to our races because they are "boring." Joshua was watching a skateboarding competition the other day and I pointed out to him that one kid's whole family had come out to watch, including his 4 brothers and sisters. Joshua commented, "yes, but skateboarding is fun, triathlons and running are boring." So it's just a matter of picking the right sport, folks.

By the way, Joshua started gymnastics tonight and is already at the top of the class. Kid has some serious skills. He is training to be an American Ninja Warrior. Most of the guys on the team started out at gymnasts, so he is hoping to follow by taking that route. Then he wants to try parkour but the only parkour gym near us is in Alexandria. I can't believe I'm actually thinking about taking him there...

Anyway, when he's an American Ninja Warrior I will of course come and watch him but I may have to whine a bit about how boring it is watching him fly through the air...
